The 240007498 is a RetroAire C-12 conical thermostat. As a thermostat, it senses ambient temperature and cycles the connected heating equipment on and off to hold the set point dialed in by the installer or homeowner, standing in for the existing conical-style control it replaces.
It is sold as a direct replacement for a control carrying this same part number, on RetroAire units equipped with a circuit board. It ships complete and ready to wire in place of the failed or worn original.
