Product Overview
The Re-Verber-Ray TP-222 is a flame rod, the metal probe that mounts in the burner and extends into the flame to prove ignition. It is also listed under alternate part numbers 1259-64 and 5151576. The flame rod sits in the burner flame and works with the ignition control board to confirm the burner has actually lit: the flame conducts a small current between the rod and the burner ground, and the control reads that signal as proof of flame; if the signal drops out, the control shuts the gas valve rather than letting gas flow unburned. A worn, coated, or misaligned rod is a common cause of nuisance lockouts even when the burner is otherwise healthy.
It fits the CL, CL3, CX, CX3, DST, DX, DX2, DX3, DX3L, HL, HL2, HL3, HLV, LD, LD3, LS, LS3, MP, QTD, QTS, SV, XTS and XTS3 series, plus the DSRL and DSRS lines, covering every Detroit Radiant Products Co. burner except the DES, DTH, DTHS, DBS, DRV, DR, PH, and Euro platforms. See Fitment below for the full model-specific list.
It ships as the rod alone; the matching lead wire is sold separately as TP-222A.
Replacing the flame rod touches the gas path: shut off the gas supply and disconnect power to the heater before removing the burner cover, then verify the rod's position and gap against the installation sheet for the specific model before restoring power. Have a qualified technician confirm proper flame sensing after the swap.
