VR4205M-1308 Natural Gas Valve and Union

The VR4205M-1308 is a factory 6.0 in. natural gas combination valve and union assembly, wired for 120V operation. It is the main gas control for the heater's burner: it opens and closes the natural gas supply to the burner in response to the direct spark ignition (DSI) module, and the union fitting lets a technician disconnect the gas line cleanly at the valve during service.

It fits the 120V DR Series NFS-2 and AMERICAN 450N high intensity heaters; see Fitment below for the full model list. It is a direct replacement for the older V444A-1028 valve, and also replaces the G1101 and G36C01A numbers. The part is additionally listed under the older Honeywell-style number V44A-1127 and the internal reference 1774751; those older numbers cross-reference to the same 6.0 in. natural gas valve, so confirm the old part's rating plate against the installation sheet before ordering if working from one of those numbers.

It ships as a complete valve-and-union assembly, ready to install in place of the original.

Replacing this part: shut off the electrical circuit to the heater, close the gas supply, disconnect the wiring from the circuit board, then use two wrenches to loosen the union and remove the old valve. Install the new VR4205M-1308 using two wrenches on the union to avoid twisting the valve body, reconnect the wiring per the wiring diagram on the installation sheet, then restore gas and power in that order. Only trained, qualified gas installation and service personnel should perform this replacement; improper installation, adjustment, or service can cause property damage, serious injury, or death.
